Let’s Talk About Dole Whips

I swear, Dole Whips have a cult following among Disnerds. They even inspire artwork! The following pictures are pins I found on Pinterest boards of fellow Disney fanatics, and they’re only a small sampling of the Dole Whip craze. (Because I found them on Pinterest, I don’t claim to own any of these photos!)

For the uneducated, a Dole Whip is a pineapple-flavored soft-serve treat. It’s the delicious offspring of a long-standing agreement between Disney and Dole Foods. People try to mimic this dessert at home with various recipes, but there’s nothing like the original. It can be found in Adventureland and is well worth a wait in line.

They are ridiculously popular among Disney fans, most likely because of the rarity of this Disney dessert. In fact, the term Dole Whip Culture is an actual phrase in the Disney fandom (as is Turkey Leg Culture, but I’ve yet to try one!) This dessert seems to be the hallmark of a true Disney Parks fan.

The Disney Food Blog has a great post about Dole Whips if anyone is interested in more fun facts about this treat! (http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2012/12/31/disney-dining-classic-dole-whip-float-at-magic-kingdoms-aloha-isle/)

Anyone care to chime on this delicious dessert? What do you think, is it worth the hype or is it just another overpriced Disney snack? Share your opinion below!
